KEN SKORSETH
Former Director, Local Transportation Assistance Program (LTAP) – South Dakota
If you want the dirt on all things gravel roads, look no further than Ken Skorseth. Ken has spent over 40 years studying unpaved roads all throughout the United States and as far away as New Zealand.
His experience entails work in the highway and heavy construction industries, management of a county highway department, and for the last 22 years Ken has been Field Service Manager / Program Manager of the South Dakota Local Transportation Assistance Program at South Dakota State University.
For over 20 years Ken has been educating engineers, managers, elected officials and maintenance workers on subjects such as gravel road maintenance, low volume road maintenance and management. He also served as the lead author of the Federal Highways Administration Gravel Roads Manual.
In 2011, Ken’s contributions to the industry earned him an induction into the South Dakota Department of Transportation Hall of Honor for his lifetime contributions to local transportation in South Dakota and the nation.
